Traditional Orthodontics

When we say traditional orthodontics, we’re really referring to metal braces, one of the most tried and true treatments in all of dentistry. Traditional braces work like they always have: a specially designed wire applies a gentle force to the teeth in order to shift them into the proper alignment. The wire is held onto the teeth using brackets that are bonded to each tooth.

With braces, we’re able to address a vast array of orthodontic issues ranging from very simple to the most complex. , And due to advances in the engineering of the brackets, modern-day braces are now smaller, sleeker, and more comfortable than ever. .

We understand, however, that many people (especially our adult orthodontic patients) may not be so keen on wearing traditional metal brackets and wires. In these cases, we also offer treatment with ceramic, tooth-colored brackets for the front teeth. These ceramic brackets are bonded to each tooth just like the metal brackets, but they are barely noticeable. This allows our patients to take advantage of all of the benefits of traditional orthodontics, without any of the worry that everyone notices their braces. It’s truly a win-win!
